MTB Atlanta Pro Trails recently completed heavy machine maintenance with an excavator on the Beginner and Intermediate Trails at South Rockdale Community Park which are just a little over 4 years old since the grand opening of Phase One Construction. The crew also cleared corridor and did mowing and brush cutting through all the utility easements at the park. This work was funded by Rockdale County, and took two and half weeks to complete. MTB Atlanta Pro Trails also finished new construction of Phase Two at the park which netted three new trails funded by our recent Chestnut Family Foundation Grant back in December of 2023. “We are always excited when we receive a financial commitment from land managers for trail maintenance, said Brett Davidson, Executive Director of MTB Atlanta and MTB Atlanta Pro Trails. It happens very rarely but with the surge of passive outdoor recreation on public lands and trails as a result of the pandemic, we now advocate that trails on public land deserve funding for professional maintenance like any other facility on public land. This project is a great example of a commitment to maintenance to ensure that the trails at South Rock stay in great shape for the next three years.” Be sure to go check out the new trails at the park and enjoy the maintenance work on Phase One, the trails are running great!
